Fifteen Journey - Chapter 16

‘What now?’
Where could Michael be? Rick wasn’t confident enough to battle Cassey without Mike by his side. Horous was fully depressed. However, a thought ran in Rick’s mind. What if Mike had been captured?
“Horous, I need your help. Lead me to the place where you can smell Mike.”
It was just stupid being talking to a dog, but it seemed that Horous understood. He started walking at first, but got faster as he approached the fortress. Rick just confirmed his theory when seeing himself at the front of the entry of the big fortress. Should he go in? Or should he save his own life instead? However, without noticing, his legs made the decision for him. Once inside, he wasn’t able to go back, that would be from the weak. He decided to follow Horous. There was no sigh of the transmission.
Horous was at an unreachable speed when he calmed down. He was now entering calmly at the castle and was trying to smell his owner. Rick followed him, when he noticed that Horous was leading him to the dungeons. Rick staked. What if this was a trap? His conscious didn’t have time to wonder more, as Rick’s heart had already decided to save his friend. Rick quickly caught Horous and started searching for his friends.
There were several gates made from wood. It did not seem like a dungeon; in fact, it was too new to be a real dungeon. Rick’s thoughts were interrupted when hearing Horous’s claws scratching one door. Rick, hopeful, didn’t waste time. He quickly broke down the huge door and saw Mike in a corner of the silent but dark room. He did not show signs of life.
He wasn’t moving.
‘Oh, no…’
Horous quickly approached his master and started crying. ‘Can dogs actually cry?’ Rick, however, brought Mike in his back and got out of the cell. He made the same way he had been through, but this time, he went faster than ever, and more distracted than everything. He was almost reaching the door, which would allow him to get out of the dark dungeons, when someone appeared in front of him.
“What do you think you’re doing?” the female voice asked.
Rick did not answer. He knew the owner of the melodically voice. He just pushed Cassey out of his way and ran as he had never run before. However, the horrible monster appeared in front of him. He was petrified.
The huge transmission was staring at him, holding unconscious Mike in his back. He was in a huge room at the entry of the front door. However, the transmission was blocking his path.
Time passed too quickly. He couldn’t even go back: Cassey was right behind him.
‘What now?’
He closed his eyes.
‘What should I do? Try to escape would be the safest option…’
“…fight… her…”
“I could swear I hear Mike’s voice advising me…” Rick whispered.
“It’s Mike, you stupid…” Mike’s weak voice could be heard.
“Turn round. Fight me!” Cassey shouted more like an order than a request.
“Turn round, Rick… cof, cof…”
Time stopped in Cassey’s world. Slowly the so-called enemy turned his eyes to hers. And those were no ordinary eyes…
“You… you are…”
“Yes, Rick Flaim, Number 7 of Tourch, natural from Dakir. Your opponent.”
“You… you BASTARD! YOU LIED TO ME!”
“I never lied to you, the truth is that I never actually got to say the truth…”
“Nice problem you’re in, Rick… Girls is no easy business…”
“I’m going to kill you!!!”
All that Rick was able to hear was the sound of a castle being destroyed right behind him… where the astral transmission was…
