Underground - Chapter 6

Follow your heart to wherever it may take you...you will never regret the path that it choses for you.

Underground
- Chapter 6 - The lost soul

Elise pulled her hand of Lance’s, and turned to Brian.
“What are you doing here?” she asked startled.
Brian took a good look at Lance, made a disgusted smile and finally answered with another question: “What are you doing HERE?”
“I asked you first!” She fought back. Elise felt guilty for her previous actions, but she didn’t know why. She felt if she was betraying Brian , cheating on him…which was ridiculous, because obviously they weren’t going out…they were just friends…
“I’m Lance Roberts” the young man interrupted trying to break the tension between the three of them “and you are…?”
“Brian Attwood” he answered briefly maintaining eye contact with Elise. He looked angry and upset. Elise could easily see the rage in his hazel eyes, even in the middle of the darkness.
Elise got up, walked towards the door and simply left the cabin, in silent but quick steps. She felt ashamed and embarrassed of the whole situation, yet she hadn’t done anything wrong. Now, she was also furious: “how could Brian do this to her?” She walked under the poring rain, into the city streets. She paused in front of a restaurant and looked inside. The day before, she had met Brian and he told her that his parents worked in that exact restaurant. They agreed to meet there on that same day, to go for a walk on the afternoon. That was why Elise had gone to that city block in the first place: she had gone there to get together with Brian; but after the bike incident she felt hungry and decided to go to the grocery store near by…and then she met Lance…
Thunder. Great just great; she wanted to go home so badly, but her bike was at the cabin. “Drats!” She thought while entering the restaurant “It’s either this, or back to the hut!”
The restaurant was full: after all it was lunch time. Elise quietly sat at a corner table, near the window. “Brian will be here anytime now…” she thought while looking at the menu “ and I’ll have to face him like I did earlier before… only this time, he’ll be alone…hopefully”.

“Where is he?” a red-head girl asked, across the restaurant.
The woman next to her shrugged her shoulders and entered the kitchen.
The girl shook her head, sighed and walked towards Elise:” May I take your order please?”
Elise gave her the menu “I’ll have a glass of water, please”.
The girl wrote a note down, while turning on her heels.
“Wait!”
“Hum..?” she turned her head, looking over her shoulder” Would you like anything else..?”
“No…It’s just that I couldn’t help overhearing your conversation with that lady over there- she pointed towards a woman near the kitchen- and wonder if everything was alright. Is someone missing?”
“Well, yes…it’s a boy, a teenager that usually helps around the place with the dishes. He’s been missing since…half an hour ago, and truth be told , he NEVER leaves without saying anything”
Elise bit her lip.
“Why? Do you know him?”
Elise got up, and ran outside…she had a terrible feeling- something was defiantly wrong…

Oh, Saritah, sorry! I should have commented before but my stupid bro spent 2 or more hours in the computer and I wasn't able to comment (sigh...)
I think the story is becoming better as you are writing down more chapters. You don't have to please us, just write want you want and what your soul tells you to. I think you're story is wonderful, full of magic and suspense (yes, fans, because meeting Lance was no coicidence! - this is for the weak-minded)and you just have to keep writing and see were your imagination leads you to. I'm a genious, but I don't really know where (the place!) Brian is...Mmm, suspicious.
Keep the amazing work your doing!
