Fifteen Journey - Chapter 37

“You will stay here, is that understood?”
She got out of the chair as soon as her mother left the kitchen. She didn’t like to disobey her mother, but the pan was bothering her. As she had gone to the cereal field, she saw a boy playing with a ball alone. “Wanna play?”
For the first time of her life, she smiled. However, she sensed smoke. As she raised her head to her house, she saw the fire consuming it.
The boy ran in the fired house direction. The girl tried to catch him, but her legs weren’t strong enough. The flames were getting higher; it seemed someone was laughing at her. The red colour, lively red, she would remember for the rest of her life. She called the boy, but he never got to get out of the building.
Neither her family.

Annya woke up. She had been having that kind of dreams for too long. However, time wouldn’t wait for her, so it was time to continue her journey.
A strong power sensation had been evading her. That aura was higher in the area she was heading for and the idea of meeting another magic user player pleased her.
She did not take long until she reached the aura. Aura was what magicians called a field of use of power. It used to be circular and entering in another’s aura could be taken as a crime. This one did not emit a great power, it seemed that the magic user had passed here a long time ago. Maybe some days ago. Thinking of it, Tourch had started on a week and a half and so many things had already happened.
Exiting the forest, she entered the powerful glade inside the aura. However, all she saw was devastation. A destroyed village, destroyed dreams…
She wondered in the desperate lands. She was trying to find survivors, but she wasn’t even able to find corpses. Maybe the village’s citizens managed to survive and ran away. But finally, she saw a corpse.
Looking to it, she knew from afar there was no hope for the young man. His pale face showed panic and dismay. Yes, he had been killed with magic. Annya only understood the reason when she noticed a number in his arm. He was a Tourch player.

Kane sensed a hand catching him. A cold hand, trying to hurt him. Kane screamed while the hand was penetrating his flesh.
“Kane!” Kate’s childish voice echoed from far after hearing the cousin’s scream.
The judge was approaching. Kane was sure of that.
Nearer and nearer…
“KANE!!!”
It passed in a flash. However, before mysteriously appearing save in the place he had entered the building, he knew he had seen the judge’s face: an evil grin turning into a painful expression. He only understood with the judge let him go when he stood up.
“What’s wrong?” young Kate asked.
Kane couldn’t easily stand up. After trying to do so, he fell abruptly in the floor.
“My… my leg…”
Kate removed the clothes protecting his leg for clothes. What she saw was his skin red, lively red. If he was warmed, he’d start to bleed.
“It hurts so much…”
“Hang on, I’m taking you to daddy.” Kate replied and put his arm in her shoulders. She was little but made her efforts. However, it was not long when the judge’s security guards appeared. They were surrounded.
“Now, now, little girl. Surrender nicely…” the leader replied with a childish tone. She stood up trying to cover Kane.
However, she had to close her eyes. A huge blast of wind came to her face bringing dust. When she was able to check the scenery, she saw a mysterious character in a cape. As for the security guards, they were in the floor without senses.
“Let’s go, Kate.” The stranger replied.
“You know my name?”
Bradley smiled. She had already forgotten him.
But Kate did not risk disobeying; she ran and accompanied Bradley always warning him the best path to choose. Their goal was to reach Kate’s father, he’d know where to hide from the judge. Bradley lifted Kane the whole path and eventually he collapse. The pain was too much to endure.
However, something was wrong. Many people seemed agitated next to the ceremony’s stage while knowing the news.
“Kate, Kate!” a kid approached her.
“What’s happening?” she asked him.
“You are not going to believe this…”
Kane woke up.
“What’s wrong?”
He swallowed the following words.
“Number 14, he’s dead!”

Butterfly Mystery - Chapter 12

Martha was impatiently waiting at the room’s door.
“Ready?”
“Wait a bit…” Jennifer shouted from inside the room.
“Come on, it is just a uniform…”
Jennifer got out of the room and faced Martha.
“Make-up takes time as well…”
They were both late. It would soon begin and it was the girls’ first time. But, by the time they arrived, the festival had already begun.
In what used to be the gymnasium, now a huge and coloured fair had risen. Colours of every club in the school were filling the place with the aim of getting the new students to their club’s side. Every strategy was used except for harmful techniques. And everyone was doing his job correctly.
“This way!” Jen grabbed Martha’s arm and conducted her to
Martha didn’t regret not having fight to free herself. Outside the gymnasium, a friendship clime could be felt. Martha had the feeling this festival would be the best.
It had passed 2 months after Martha’s entry in the academy. They were in middle of November, a beautiful and brownish November. But this wasn’t an ordinary day.
“Martha!” a person called from inside the gym. She just ran. She knew where he was.
Jen finally caught her still holding her breath. “Where… are you… going?”
Martha stooped running when she got into the Soccer Club tent. “Here!” And she turned at the person who had called her. Her brother.
“Got the thing?”
“Sure.” He winked.
Jen was suspicious. “What are you two preparing?”
The meeting of twins was interrupted by the sudden arrival of Brian. “You have got things to do, Jack.”
“Ah! You scared me!” both twins almost screamed.
After sighing, both twins looked around trying to see her.
“What are they trying to do?” Brian approached Jen.
“Dunno. By the way, I’m Jennifer.”
“Brian. Pleasure to meet you.” He winked at her to go back to the boredom of the two twins trying to search a certain birthday girl.
“Jack, you’ve got duties, remember?” Brian took his hear.
“Ouch, stop that! Ok, ok…” he then turned at his sister. “I’ll keep this.” He pointed at a folded object. “Warn me if you see her around.”
“Sorry, but I’ll take him from you… sis…” Brian joked using his known wink.
However, it didn’t last as much as it used to. “Let’s go Jen!” Martha replied after punching Brian in his face.
“Where are you heading to? And why did you punch him? He seems to like you…”
Martha froze. “What are you trying to insinuate?” she almost screamed but wasn’t able to hide her blush.
Eventually, Jen caught Martha and her ultra speed. And maybe it could be a super day…
“Let’s go to this tent!” Jen caught Martha’s hand and lead to the first one.
Once inside, Martha could see a few youngsters being submitted to an exam. The examiner, a person she had already met: the news reporter, Diane. Next to her, Greg was just taking notes.
“Jen…” she whispered. “Let’s get out of here…”
Not quick enough. A book was thrown too close to Martha’s head.
“Look who’s here.” A non-welcoming voice menaced Martha. “I could identify that hair from afar. Isn’t that right, Jack O’Lantern sister?”
“My brother’s name isn’t… O’Lantern!” a big and frightening Martha raised. “In fact, I don’t even know why I stopped at your tent…” Jen raised her hand.
Martha was about to leave when the voice attacked again. “To afraid to take my tests, are we?” Diane didn’t expect such a reaction.
In the next 40 minutes, Martha was busy beating Diane in every challenge to the reporters’ entry. No wonder Martha got out completely tired.
“It was funny…” Jen replied with a smile.
Martha’s terrifying expression made her smile fade. But after a juice, happiness came back. They visited many clubs including the Astronomy Club, the Writing Club and the Chess Club.
“A chorus club? Are you sure?” Martha asked.
“Yes, this is perfect. I always wanted to do this!” Jennifer cheered as signing the registration sheet.
But when they got out of the tent, Martha recognised someone passing by. Henry, the high school hoot.
