Fifteen Journey - Chapter 4

Rick couldn’t believe in what his eyes were seeing. The ceremony was HUGE!!!
He had already his sword with him, which made him more comfortable in the middle of that huge crowd.
“Francisco, where are you son?”
“Good sodas, only for 3£!”
“When is this ceremony thing is like…going to start, dude?”
The people were impatient. Rick wanted to come closer to the stage and see whenever it was starting but the crowd was too dense. He then saw it: the statue would certainly help him to see something. He was tall, still, but not tall enough.
“Hey, sir, could you help me to see the games?”
“Sure!”
Rick put the little kid on his back. It made he remember of his sister. She was younger than him and, when Rick said her he was leaving she was reluctantly to let him go. His mother had died a long time ago, so Rick did not get to know his mother that well. Their father had pulled through the death some years later after it had happened. And they had been very happy until Rick was selected to take part of Tourch.
“Look sir! They’re preparing the flags!”
Rick couldn’t stand doing nothing. He crossed through the crowd and watched the stage with the help of Sir Henry III’s statue.
“It’s… it’s…”
“Beautiful, isn’t it?”
In fact, it was. The round stage was full of colours, it seemed alive…There was a big space inside it where, Rick supposed, would be announced the candidates.
“I wish I could be a candidate and be a hero to my city…” The youngster replied.
Rick put the younger in the floor.
“What is your name?”
“Sirumis, sir.”
“Look, Sirumis, being a candidate isn’t easy. But if you have faith in your own skills you will be for sure a candidate of Tourch.”
“Really?!”
“Really.”
“Wow, thank you sir. Sorry, but I’ve got to look for my parents.”
Rick just waved his hand. Children were dreamers… But he acted just that way when he was a boy. He giggled remembering the stupid things he had done with his friends as a child.
“Please, we would like to start the ceremony.”
Everybody clapped and whistled. Then, the public silenced so that the speaking tube could talk.
“As you all may know, the ceremony will take all this day.” Everybody clapped interrupting the professional. “Therefore, it is my duty to tell you the rules of Tourch.”
When finishing this phrase, everybody disagreed showing their disagreement with vegetables and things of that sort. The police, predicting that accident, was already in action. The crowd finally calmed down as the speaking tube was telling the rules. They seemed to be preparing their seats like knowing he was going to talk for a log time…
“First Article: the aim of Tourch is to defeat physically the opponent. Each village has his own representative, which makes fifteen. Tourch finishes when 14 candidates are defeated.”
Nothing new.
“Second Article: a battle is over when a player gives up or dies. For defence or attack, there can be used different arts chosen in this day. When declaring defeat, the candidate can never turn back and the candidate who defeated him is the one who will choose the loser’s destiny but the loser can never kill the winner not even for revenge.”
“Third article: for an efficient organisation, this year, every candidate will be parked with a scientific innovation that can tell the referee the location of every candidate.”
“Ohhhhhhhhh!…” the crowd exclaimed.
“That is just a way to cheat!” a voice said in the middle of the crowd.
The speaking tube tried to ignore the voice.
“Hum, hum…Fourth article: the players cannot receive any help from other people, except if those people are his tool and art for attack or defence. In that case, only one helper can be chosen. If any candidate receives help, he or she will be disqualified and the citizen will be severely punished.”
Everybody yawned. He had finally finished..
“Fifth article:…”
“What? Tourch only has 3 rules! And that innovation thing isn’t that bad!” Rick heard behind him.
The professional stopped for a little.
“Excuse me, may I have you attention, please?”
The crowd finally silenced.
“This year, the referee decided to make a new rule. The referee decided it was the best decision to do and, besides having a great controversy…”
“Spill it already!” a citizen ordered.
And the speaking tube obeyed gasping the population.
“Magic will be permitted.”

Hi there!

Hi there! I'm Ricardo, one of the portuguese teens that are writting in this blog. The english name for Ricardo is Richard, Ricky to the friends. So I think that by now you know who's the great inspiration for the main Fifteen Journey story (Rick) :D! One more thing about me: I'm portuguese, but I was born in England! How ironic!
IMO this can be a really good blog, because you can allways read it when you have just nothing more to do, and have lots of fun when we write stupid mystackes (lol), specially if you're an english native speaker. You might even print the entire blog to read it in your free times, like a book or magasine, since its contents are just little stories (not all of them have a continuation).
And one more thing: just because we're practising for the FCE exam, that just doesn't mean that this isn't a blog to the community: we're trying to invent some crazy and cool stories that you might like, not just that ones we invent just for us or for our group of friends. This blog is also for you: enjoy it!
Ricardo.

ps: now I'm out of time, but I promisse I'll write my first story as soon as I can!

Hi people!

But who the heck is reading this stuff? It must be just me...
Well, this is just a reminder that I need your comments! I kind of liked the 3rd chapter but I'm only updating one chapter a day.
This of been writing the story at 1 am at the morning is really amusing: I can think better at this time of day. (it is night, but still...)
Fifteen journey is STARTING!!! It has so many chapters that I don't really know when I would have finished of writing this story. Don't worry, when it is finished, I'll start writing a new one! eheheh...
At least you read this reminder...

Fifteen Journey - Chapter 3

He sat in a bench. Boy!, he really WAS tired! Panic had taken over him. If he had been unmasked…
‘Well, don’t want to give up right now!’, he thought while putting aside the evil thoughts.
Rick now noticed where he was. He saw himself in the middle of a garden, with thick vegetation. The garden was beautiful but…
“How am I supposed to get out of here?! This is a maze to me!!!”, he exclaimed desperately. He panicked.
“Haaaaaaaaaaaa, I’ve only got a few hours time to get to the ceremony!”
He did not remember more. He just knocked out after hitting his head on a tree.

Rick opened slowly his eyes. He was a little dizzy but he managed to get up.
‘How am I supposed to win Tourch with this sense of orientation? I’m so…”
A tiny sound interrupted him. It seemed a little harmless animal suffering. Indeed, she was. A blond, blue eyed and gorgeous girl was crying silently. She felt his warm hand in her back.
“Here, have this”, Rick said softly giving her a handkerchief. “Take off the tears from that beautiful face.”
She looked suspiciously at him and put her nose in his mouth.
“You aren’t drunk. Why were you sleeping in the middle of the path?”
“It’s a long story”, he replied and told her his mini-adventure.
“HAHA, you’re such a loser!” She couldn’t stop laughing.
“I’m not!!! It’s just…Well; at least you’re not crying anymore…”
“Yeah, thanks…” she said sincerely.
Then, they silenced. An uncomfortable silence.
“Why were you crying, may I know?”
“I just have…too much pressure on me right now. Nothing important.”
Being bored of this depressed ambience Rick suggested:
“Well, this may look kind of silly but… I need your help to get out of this garden.”
The girl could not stop laughing.
“You’re that stupid?!”
Rick resigned. Eventually, she stopped laughing. And told him the way out.
“Thanks for helping me with that.” She thanked.
“No problem.”
“I’ve got to go now…”
“Wait; at least tell me your name…”
“Lane, Cassie Lane.” That sounded familiar to Rick. “And you?” Too familiar.
“My… name?” It was obvious.
“Yes, duh! Why, don’t you have a name?” she giggled approaching to him. ‘It can’t be!’
“Hey, I’ve got to go now. See you around!” She looked really disappointed but Rick did not knew that. He started running as fast as he could.
‘Why? Why does she have to be Levinita’s candidate?’
He could not believe it. He was attractive to every girl around him but have to see that girl as his enemy was too much.
“Ouch!” He hit someone.
“Excuse me.” He apologized. “I’m really sorry.”
“Get out of the way!”
Rick was left in the floor. He looked at the guys that had passed through him. They looked all the same, wearing masks and with a cold expression.
‘I have a bad feeling about this…’ He thought as getting up to get his sword. Two new things in just one morning haven’t happened by accident…

Next Chapter:

The ceremony will begin! What is Tourch? Who are the candidates?

Authors Note: Now, this is becoming interesting. Just wait until next chapter!

Fifteen Journey - Chapter 2

Rick woke up. The smell around the room remembered him how long he hadn’t eaten a simple piece of food. His tummy growled. Before leaving the little room, he hide his sword under the bed because if it was discovered, there would be certainly a revolt. His sword was called Thynia and it was a gift from the Lord of his village. He just wished he could win “the games” with it and bring the lost value to his village.
“Dinner is served, sir”, said the clerk as Rick went down the staircase as fast as he could. The typical food wasn´t anything special, but at that time, any kind of food was welcome.
He decided to visit Levinita. It was glowing happiness everywhere he went: the nocturn clubs starting the night activity, the concerts that were staring young professionals, even the gardens with the nature enlivening. Rick decided to enter a club for real men to kill his sorrow for alcohol. The ambiance was perfect: everyone was too busy with their own problems and it was difficult to notice him.
“How may I serve you?” asked the employee.
“I’ll have a beer”
The young clerk served it immediately but this wasn’t the beginning of a peaceful night. Rick couldn’t stop hearing a very interesting conversation. A realy old men sat in the corner of the bar started telling a rumour.
“…and I heard that the Rouose candidate uses incredible magic.”
“But that isn’t permitted according to the rules of Tourch!!!” he youngster of the group exclaimed revolted.
“Yes my boy. But “the games” referee isn’t always fair. I guess they are changing the rules this year.”
“What about Cassey? This isn’t fair at all!” the youngster protested again.
“Don’t forget Rouose is one of those cities that could kill us easily” now, it was a middle age men that was talking. “The games are seen now as a brutality competition between villages. Besides, we can give up hope now on Cassey, she needs our hope.”
“Excuse me, is this chair been used?” Rick asked wanting more information.
Almost every men sat on the table was really suspicious from him, but the oldest stopped that bad manner of welcoming the new “Please, join us!”
Rick gained the men’s hope by paying a beer round for everyone, except the little one that preferred a glass of pineapple juice. Then they talked about the games and the head behind this famous sport.
“He never showed up, I’m kind of thinking that this is a way of attracting the public’s curiosity” a new one said like a true professional.
“What if he is a woman?” the woman who was sitting next to the middle age man asked. This caused a revolt.
‘Men, this is even bigger if I said I am one of the candidates.’ Rick thought.
Eventually, everyone went back to their original places.
“So youngster, what made you come to our village?”
Rick was petrified.
“Well…” he said between gasping, “I…I suppose the same as the other people.”
‘Ouf, it has passed…’
“What do you mean as same?” the old man attacked again.
“Just come and see the beggining of the games…”
“But the city has much more to offer, not just some ridiculous Tourch!!!”
The old man began to lose control.
“Ok, you got me. My girlfriend is one of the candidates…”
Everyone gasped.
“So, was that hard to explain why you were here?”
‘Yes, he felt for it!’
“No…”
The conversation stopped there. Everyone went back home and Rick left as well. He could hardly believe his luck. He was almost unmasked! He just wanted to stop the evening by there but that was impossible. The evening had plenty to offer…

Next Chapter:
What if Rick met someone really important? What more as the night has to offer? With the beginning of the presentation of all characters, who is Cassey?

Stay tuned for more Fifteen journey just from me!!!

Underground - Chapter 1

Introduction

There's a time in life when you have to chose the path you will follow for the rest of your life. Somethimes, you make that decision right in the beginning, other times you just make your mind near the end.Nerver less, it's an important journey, life, and it depends fully of the choices you make. Afterall the most dificult choices are the ones that can change your life forever, and can only be made by you...

Underground
-Chapter one- Time of Changes

Elise sat in her bed, feeling a slight breeze enter her room. After yawning and stretching her arms (and legs), she reached her alarm-clock: “What? Well this can’t be right…”She thought to herself while rubbing her eyes “It can’t be that early!”
She got up and walked towards the window across her room. She opened it, and looked up for some sort of sign that would tell her that it was wrong…the alarm clock…it had to be broken. Everyone was still a sleep; there were no lights in the nearby houses and no sound of a car or person passing by. Elise felt lonely.

For a moment, she rested her head, on her arms, and dropped a tear right there, on the window pane. Then, the tear disappeared, as well as the next one, and following tears she “spilled”. Elise noticed this amazing event, and raised her head looking up at the strange figure floating, before her.

“Elise, please don’t cry” said the figure with a soothing voice.
“What’s happening? Where did you come from?” she asked with a shaky voice. The figure was so beautiful, yet so cold.

“It’s alright.” She said smiling. “Everything is going to be just fine.”
“What do you want from me?”
“I want to help you. Make all the pain go away” She explained coming closer “but please, don’t cry.”

Elise whipped the remaining tears in her cheek and stood up straight, willing to hear what this figure had to say.
“My name is Alora; I’m one of the Howling Spirits. I’m your guarding angel” Nina was surprised. She didn’t know anything about these mystical creatures.
“And, do you know how to stop the pain I feel inside? It’s so awkward…So dark, and at the same time so…right. ”
“The pain you feel is a call from the underworld. You see, you have a very pure heart. But it’s still neutral.”

“ What do you mean?”
“Well, you have a very strong and open heart. But it can either revert to good or evil. You need to choose between these two forces. No one can make that choice for you. Yet, I can guide you trough these hard times. Show you the good in life, and how to get what you need to accomplish.”

Elise’s eyes fully opened from happiness. She could really use some guidance right now. Her life seamed so complicated; and she was defiantly lost.

”However, I must warn you, the best way isn’t always the easier. Keep that in mind , ok?” Alora advised, before vanishing in thin air.

Fifteen Journey - Chapter 1

“You’re coming back, right?”
“It is really important to win this year.”
“We are counting on you…”
That was all that Rick remembered. The hopeful voices that surrounded him instants ago were too comfortable. He was on his way to Levinita, the city where he would receive the instructions. He already knew he was number Seven: each village had already its own number.
The day was perfect: the sun was shinning, the breeze was comfortable and the nature was cheerful.
He started running with excitement; he felt that Levinita was near. And it was more than a strong feeling. He looked to the present landscape: there was Levinita: the capital city; the city of chances. Its beauty did not escape from his eyes, but it was still his enemy. He needed to pass the crowd without being noticed, and that was exactly what happened. Everyone was just too busy with the preparation for the games.
“Excuse me…”, Rick heard behind him. That voice came from a beautiful girl with her sixteen’s very busy.
‘The girls around here must be profited…’, he thought really disappointed with the waste. Although wanting not being noticed, many of the local females still murmured, giggling. But he knew he was safe. Then, he started worrying about his own problems. Looking for a hotel to spend the night wasn’t easy. He found one cheap that respected the minimum of hygienically rules. He felt sleepy and let it win.

Next Chapter:
Why is Rick in Levinita? What are the games? Why doesnt’s he want to be noticed?

Authors Note: Well, here's the first chapter. I don't like it that much, but it is necessary. I promise I'll update as soon as I can!

The beginning

First of all, thanks for visiting this site. We just wish you like this site as we like being doing it.

The name "Fifteen journey" is the title of one of the first stories we created but also is the name of the blog because is our journey to practice English, and fifteen is, in general, our age.

This was created after so many nights typing stories in MSN to a group of Portuguese teenagers and the result was, in fact, some stories that had some value. We have grown up a little and we’re taking FCE so, in this blog, you will find many and different stories from different authors. If you speak English as a second language, or third, or whatever, you can post here too your stories. Just e-mail one of us .

Thanks for visiting!!!
